Fathom is built privacy-first. We collect the minimum required information to provide personalized wellness insights and features. Many features work entirely on device. You can control analytics and optional cloud AI in Settings at any time.
Your display name, work role and industry, readiness stage, motivation profile, and app preferences are stored locally using UserDefaults.
Workplace check-ins, session durations, breathing sessions, goals, and journal entries are stored locally using Core Data.
Your reminder preferences and scheduled notifications are managed locally. You can change or disable notifications at any time in Settings.
If you enable workplace geofencing, we use location services to detect entry/exit events around saved workplaces. Geofencing requires "Always" permission for reliable background operation. Raw location is not shared with third parties by Fathom.
When Analytics is enabled in Settings, we send usage events to Firebase Analytics (Google) to help us improve the app. Events avoid sensitive content and follow Firebase limits.
On-device AI runs locally. If "Cloud AI" is enabled (gated by Settings and Remote Config), certain features (e.g., journal summarization, rewrites, task breakdowns) may send text you provide to Google Firebase Vertex AI for processing. We do not include your name or identifiers in these requests.
Adapt insights and suggestions to your role, industry, goals, and recent activity.
Deliver daily focus, breathing, and reflection nudges you opt into.
Understand basic app usage patterns (when Analytics is enabled) to fix bugs and improve experiences.
Your content (e.g., journals, check-ins, goals) and preferences are stored locally on your device.
Only if Cloud AI is enabled will certain text be sent to Vertex AI for processing; we do not store that text on our servers.
Local data remains until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall. You can request assistance via support.
Used for event analytics when enabled. Provider: Google.
Used to remotely toggle feature flags (e.g., Cloud AI availability). Provider: Google.
Used to process text for AI features when Cloud AI is enabled and you use those features. Provider: Google.
We use Apple frameworks including Core Data, StoreKit, UserNotifications, and Core Location.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Fathom is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We rely on iOS security protections and follow best practices to safeguard your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to protect your information.
Your data is processed on your device. Optional analytics and Cloud AI processing may be handled by service providers in the United States or other regions, subject to their terms and privacy policies.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in features or legal requirements. We will post updates in-app and on this page with a new effective date.
